QA-53, 5 October 2017, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hüseyin Müftüoğlu, in Response to a Question Regarding a statement of the US Embassy in Ankara
The US Embassy in Ankara issued a statement regarding the arrest of a Turkish citizen. In the statement the said Turkish citizen is called a “local employee” of the US Consulate General in Istanbul.
The above mentioned person was detained on September 25 and subsequently arrested based on terror related charges. He is neither a staff of the US Consulate nor does he have any diplomatic or consular immunity.
